The British Council is delighted to launch its international photography competition ‘21st Century Skills’.

The competition provides an ideal opportunity for photographers internationally to showcase their talents. The prize for the winning photographer will be a Nikon D3100 DSLR Camera with 55-200mm and 18-55mm lenses.

Competition Overview

The competition focuses on images depicting positive and innovative views of skills development in formal training environments, including colleges and the workplace.

In many parts of the world skills training has an image problem; we are looking for pictures that challenge the tired stereotypes of oily overalls and dingy factories. Instead we want images that show the modern face of skills training, illustrating that such training can be fun and inspiring, founded on quality and excellence, with the range of subjects covered – from sound engineering to fashion design - surprisingly broad. The pictures shown on this page.

As well as a global winner, there will be one winner selected from Libya and awarded a prize.

Images should be submitted by 12 noon UK time on 3 April 2014.
